Half term round up

Just one day left...... and normal service will be resumed (Phew)

It has been a great half term, and we have made the most of having a week without routines and deadlines.  There has been a day trip on the train to York.  With a visit to Bettys tea room - that was my treat for this week.

The national railway museum...... what a fantastic place.  We had lots of fun there.

There has been a visit to grandparents in Oxford with a trip to the Ashmolean Museum

Then this little piggy went to market!  I have joined the local country market and took along a few of my bits and pieces for their craft stall.

Not a lot of sewing has been going on..... but there were 2 nights of complete chaos on the dining room table.............

During which I had far too much fun making Peggy the steampunk softie.......

She did have a nook on my shelf, but now she has gone off to stay in a far more superior B and B.  For bookings click here.

And this afternoon we have been to see a local amateur production of

Please can I go back to work now????

February book challenge

This month I am joining in with Heart of Charnwood's book challenge.

I used a pattern out of this library book.....

For an extra swingy shoulder bag.

I really wanted to use my lovely flowers and birds fabric which I got for £2 in the January bargain bin on Newark market......

The pattern is great, it uses freezer paper for the pattern and you iron it on and then cut out the front and back of the bag pieces all in one go - which is quick, but I thought it was very wasteful of fabric, so didn't do that for the lining.

Here is my finished bag (please can we have some sunshine for better photos soon)

I added a button and ribbon as a simple way to close the bag - and make it a bit safer to use.

And I did the pocket differently to the way the pattern recommends to.

It's a very simple and easy pattern, and worked for me, but I think it's a bit girlie for me to use, so it might end up being a present - might make another one???

Good things come in pairs

Well January was quite a productive month for me.....

I seem to have made 2 of everything!

This month I am very excited as I am Queen Bee over at Stash Bee (Hive 1).  So my hive will be making Pippi Longstocking blocks for me this month.  When I was practicing my block and checking out the tutorial I made a Christmas Pippi (big shout out to Moira for the fab Christmas 2.5inch squares which saved a lot of cutting time).

I am also linking up to Lily's fresh sewing day
